Discover fine folk art, Duxbury, MA
Escape the modern world by decorating with a Marie Fox print or painting. Marie invites us to step back into a simpler time where life appears idyllic. Her nostalgic folk art creates a longing for the values of home, family and tradition. It's art straight from the heart, inspired by Marie's own memories of her New England childhood.
After ten years in California restoring museum paintings, Marie returned home to pursue her passion of making art. Duxbury, MA, a charming seaside village near Cape Cod, is the setting and inspiration for most of her paintings. Rediscovering the beauty of Duxbury's historic architecture and natural environment, she began to paint. "My emotional need to express my connection with my roots blossomed," she says. She felt a strong desire to share stories of her childhood. "I want my memories to stir someone else's memories of those sweet moments."

Bring home a cozy art print: Cape Cod memories
If you love historic architecture, especially that of New England, you'll be drawn to the handsome Colonials and quaint Capes in Marie Fox's prints and paintings. In her popular When Lilacs Bloom art print, Cape Cod architecture is featured. Capes were built in this most easterly part of Massachusetts starting in the early 1700s, and are perhaps the first truly American house. The beauty and charm of Georgian, Federal and Greek Revival homes are also celebrated in Marie's art. Duxbury, MA, is rich in these residential styles. "One spring, when I came upon an antique Cape blanketed in lilac blossoms, I knew immediately I would paint it and invent a story about a family long ago." Marie brings her own training in architecture to these images.
Historic New England buildings can also be seen in Catching Fireflies, Skating Party and Marie's Boston Freedom Trail print.
