A curly edged old photograph I found in Maine inspired this painting. It showed a farm boy standing with his pet cow beside a fruit laden tree.

Here ripe apples fall as folks from miles around gather in their Sunday finery to judge young Bob’s cow. Will she win best in county? Can the sheep vote for her too?

The deep purplish-blue barn and shutters convey my sense of autumn colors amid the textured quilt of fields, pastures and forests. White wooden fences contain the whole.
