My mother, born in 1918, remembers the smell of hay, a cool blue-black autumn night, the warmth of brothers, sisters and friends lying flat in the wagon.
"We looked up at the stars wondering what life might be like on those distant places. A fat moon illuminated the barns, rabbits, and fields. At the bend of the road, we turned back to the lights of the welcoming farmhouse and our small red wagon. Our company on this dirt path was the clip-clop of hooves and my own giggles and loud sneezes."
